What a few months it’s been!
The fitness industry has never experienced anything like this, and everyone is working to find a “new normal” in daily life.
With everything upside down, we’re so proud of you for prioritizing your health and fitness amidst the chaos. It would be easier to sit on the couch, but you’ve decided to stay active—and we find that inspiring.
It’s also very smart.
More and more, we’re hearing about stress, anxiety and depression related to the covid crisis. While you probably can’t avoid all the stress of these times, you can buffer it and stay level with exercise.
It’s true. The CDC lists exercise and healthy eating as two prime ways to cope with stress and anxiety, so you’re doing the right thing by prioritizing nutrition and activity.
And I’ll bet you feel at least a little better after every workout. I know I do. Exercise helps me blow off steam, loosen up and recharge. And the sense of accomplishment I get gives me the confidence to tackle the many problems we’re all faced with right now.
Beyond that, new research suggests fitness might actually give you a better chance to survive covid-19 infection. Check out this article from the University of Virginia.
Another great article says that poor public health is actually making the current crisis worse.
What does all this mean?
Your commitment to fitness makes you part of the solution.
We know it’s a challenging period, but we wanted to remind you that you’re winning every time you train. You’re protecting yourself as best you can, you’re investing in your health and you’re inspiring those around you.
Keep it up!
Stay Flexible
Uncertainly is a certainty in these times—but we’re prepared for it.
As governments declare which businesses can and can’t open, we expect a turbulent period with a lot of changes. We’ve planned for every eventuality so you can maintain your momentum and keep working toward your goals. You never have to stop training!
If you love training at home, we’ve got you covered. You can absolutely continue for as long as you like. No problem! Let us know how we can help with accountability, movement modifications, or additional training targeted specifically for you.
Many of us have decided a combination of at home workouts with workouts at 623 is their preferred option. A bright spot of this COVID is that many people have realized they CAN workout at home. Take what you’ve learned with us (and our equipment) and put it to good use at home – show your kids what a fit, healthy parent does, get in your training as soon as you wake up, or during lunch breaks, or when you get home from work.
Just know that we’ve got you covered no matter what! You do not need to put your goals on hold and retire to the couch. We will provide you with everything you need to stay motivated as you work toward your goals.
Bright Spots
It’s worth mentioning again how proud you make us. Every time you complete a workout, we’re thrilled. Your effort is a bright spot for us!
I know it can be tough to stay positive when news is full of negativity.
I’d like to encourage you to find a bright spot right now—even if you’re feeling stressed. Find something to feel good about. Every Friday/weekend, we will continue our Bright Spots in our 623 Athletes Only Facebook Group. It’s a good opportunity to connect and hear about each others week!
If you have your health, that’s a huge one! Maybe the sun is shining. Maybe your pet makes you smile every hour. Maybe you accomplished a fitness goal in a challenging time. Maybe you were strong for your partner or kids. Maybe you ate some vegetables at the last meal when it would have been easier to order pizza.
Stop for just a moment and find that bright spot. Feel good about it!
In Strength and Love,
Dan & T
